THE PSYCHOSCULPTURE

IN ITS IMAGE

Installation and Perfomance at the Art Gallery of Alberta, Edmonton Canada, 2017

The fourth rendering of the Psycho-sculpture office/cabinet. Here presented in exhibition at the Art Gallery of Alberta in the context of the show Survival Guide curated by Kristy Trinier. In this version of the work, the scenography is made up of artworks from the museum’s collection carefully selected by and amongst original works made by the artist. These images work to activate the complex symbols and signs that trigger the project. For his artist talk, Heshka again uses the tools of psychoanlysis—the couch, free association, and rich interpretaions to present the work that the space represents by performing it from the alternative postion amongst an audience, coining the term Psychotheatre.
